Mission
A full strategic partner with our state associations and congressional delegations enabling effective communication of our message to continuously improve our relevance, readiness, modernization and quality of life; while promoting our rich militia heritage as the nation’s first military organization.
Governance and Reports
Twenty-nine elected members serve on the NGAUS Board of Directors and provide oversight and governance to the association. They speak for each of the six geographical areas nationwide. Retired guardsmen, company grade and warrant officers are all represented. NGAUS Bylaws state principles and guidelines for the operation of the association.
Members from the Adjutants General Association of the United States, the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States and the National Guard Executive Directors Association also brief the board.
In 1975, NGAUS established the National Guard Educational Foundation (NGEF) as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The National Guard Educational Foundation’s mission is to tell the Guard’s story. It is governed by a board of 13 elected members and the NGEF Bylaws.
The NGAUS Insurance Trust (NGAUS-IT) was created to assist in the administration of retirement planning and death benefits for military technicians and their families. The Trust, established in 1963, is conducted by the Insurance Trust Agreement.
